Brigitte Nielsen Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident

Former ‘Rocky’

Star Injured By Suspected Drunk Driver.

The former ‘Rocky IV’ star was transported to a local hospital Wednesday after being involved in a car accident caused by a suspected drunk driver.

According to police reports, forty-eight-year-old Nielsen was riding in a 2006 Porsche Cayenne when the vehicle was struck from behind by a woman driving a Toyota Matrix. The crash, which occurred around 10:20 p.m., was so severe that it sent Nielsen’s car into another vehicle that was stopped in front of it. The Danish actress was treated for moderate head and back injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Police arrested the driver of the Toyota on DUI charges after a breathalyzer test revealed that her blood alcohol content was well above the state’s .08 legal limit. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. Should the driver be found at fault, she may potentially face criminal penalties for her actions, including jail time and/or probation.

In addition to criminal penalties, Ms. Nielsen may decide to pursue a civil claim against the driver for her injuries. Under California law, individuals who sustain injuries in a car accident caused by someone else’s negligence have the right to seek damages for their medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
