Photographer claims he was injured after being struck by Lohan’s car.
Lindsay Lohan is facing legal trouble once again, this time in the form of a civil lawsuit filed by a photographer who claims he was injured after being struck by the actress’s car.
According to Entertainment Tonight, photographer Grigor Balyan claims that he was taking pictures of Ms. Lohan outside a Hollywood nightclub on January 10, 2010 when he was hit by her car as she tried to leave. Lohan’s assistant was reportedly driving the car but Balyan is suing Lohan because he claims she was the one responsible for directing the vehicle.
Balyan’s attorney, Neil Steiner, reportedly told TMZ that his client had suffered orthopedic and neurologic injuries as a result of the accident. Specifically, the suit claims that Lohan “negligently, carelessly, and recklessly operated, maintained, repaired, owned, and controlled their automobile so as to cause an accident which resulted in personal injuries and property damage to Plaintiff”.
Mr. Balyan is seeking an unspecified amount of monetary damages for his injuries and loss of property. The lawsuit was reportedly filed after negotiations with Ms. Lohan’s insurance company failed to yield a reasonable settlement offer.
Lohan is currently on probation for a 2011 theft conviction and a 2007 DUI. It was also recently revealed that the former child star owes an estimated $93,000 to the federal government in back taxes. If a judge determines that Lohan was negligent in causing Mr. Balyan’s injuries, she may be ordered to pay for his medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
