Police are still investigating the cause of the car-bus accident.
A car accident involving a Los Angeles commuter bus has left six people injured, two of them critically.
According to Los Angeles Fire Department officials, a car collided head-on with a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus in North Hollywood just after 9 a.m. on Friday morning. A second car then crashed into the rear of the sedan, which was wedged underneath the front of the bus.
Firefighters had to cut the roof off of the sedan in order to rescue the driver, whose feet were pinned under the dashboard following the accident. Both he and the driver of the car that rear-ended him were taken to a nearby hospital, where they remain hospitalized in critical condition.
One of the passengers on the bus was hospitalized for chest pain while three others received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. Both the LAPD and the fire department are continuing to investigate what caused this serious crash. If their investigation reveals negligence on the part of the driver of the sedan or the driver of the bus, either individual could potentially face a criminal charge for their actions.
Furthermore, the negligent driver could also face a civil action if those who were hurt as a result of the crash choose to pursue a personal injury claim. Should one of the drivers who is hospitalized in critical condition die, the bus driver could potentially face a wrongful death lawsuit if it’s determined that he or she is responsible for causing the accident.
